Health Care Theme
The Consortium Project Team designed a new system to use health care information technology (health IT) in isolated, rural settings to improve the efficiency of health care delivery, improve quality of care, improve patient safety, facilitate improved reporting of health care outcomes, and to save money. An electronic health record system was designed to do this, by overlaying current legacy health IT systems. It was found that available health IT equipment is available to successfully coordinate disparate, existing information systems, so that no replacement of legacy systems will be necessary. Data can be securely transferred and shared seamlessly between and among legacy systems, updating all existing databases from any one present system.
