In phase 1 of HISPC, the Alaska team completed the work summarized above. In phase 2, each state implemented a state-specific project and planned for multi-state collaboration in phase 3. Alaska's phase 2 project produced three products: Five essential documents providing a standardized approach to the exchange of health information and addressing privacy and security concerns; a Communications Plan and educational materials targeted toward patients, providers, and payers, that addressed the benefits of exchanging critical medical information in a secure manner that ensures patient privacy; and, a collaborative report developed in conjunction with seven other states addressing multi-state inter-organizational agreements for health information exchange.
