A National Web Conference on Personal Health Records: An Overview

Overall Purpose:

This national Web conference, the first in a three-part series, provided an overview of Personal Health Records (PHRs). Hear about the development and evolution of PHRs, the interests of PHR developers and sponsors, and PHR policy-related issues and legislation. Also discussed were PHRs and the new National Consumer Empowerment Standards, now required for Federal IT system procurement. A case study of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center's online PHR, PatientSite, and its seven-year experience incorporating PatientSite into its system of care was presented.
