A National Web Conference on Putting the Patient Back in Patient Centered Care

Overall Purpose:

On March 30, 2011, the health IT portfolio will be hosting another national webinar entitled, "Putting the Patient back in Patient-Centered Care" from 1:00-2:30pm EST.  This free 90-minute national Web conference will explore the use of health IT applications to improve patient involvement in the management of their health and health care.  Speakers include Drs. Paul Tang, Elisabeth Chrischilles and Silke von Esenwein.  Dr. Tang will begin the webinar with an overview of a tool designed to assist diabetic patients manage their condition via an online tool.  Dr. Chrischilles will share her AHRQ-funded research examining the improvement of medication management in older adults using a free standing online personal health record with a decision evaluation component.  Lastly, Dr. von Esenwein will conclude the discussion by describing her work on the use of personal health records among patients with a serious mental illness and chronic condition.  The Wisconsin Medical Society designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
