This research enhanced medical care and research by applying innovative health information technology strategies to improve methods for systematic collection and use of patient-reported data and outcomes (PROs) in clinical care for those with multiple chronic conditions using person-specific PRO domain prioritization.
This project developed and piloted Mobile Patient-Reported Outcomes for Value and Effectiveness, a bilingual mobile patient-reported outcomes system integrated into primary care for ethnically and culturally diverse adult patients with multiple chronic conditions. It proved feasible, acceptable, and effective in enhancing communication and decision-making, while revealing usability and implementation challenges to address for broader adoption.
This research used a depression screening questionnaire administered via a patient portal and compared its use to usual in-clinic care. Research findings showed that questionnaire administration via the portal increased the number of patients both screened and monitored for depression.
This study implemented a mobile health (mHealth) platform to measure patient-reported outcomes for pain management after certain dental procedures to determine the impact on the patient pain experience.
