Novel, High-Impact Studies Evaluating Health System and Healthcare Professional Responsiveness to COVID-19 (R01)

To assess telehealth’s role in the COVID-19 response, researchers analyzed data from the nation’s largest telehealth provider along with commercial and Medicare Advantage claims. They found that integrating near real-time telehealth data into public health reporting modestly improved 14-day forecasts of COVID-19 cases and mortality and revealed how differences in clinical management between telehealth and urgent care evolved as care delivery adapted to uncertainty and shifting guidelines.

This research will study how a safety-net hospital responds to a pandemic, specifically COVID-19, to identify how information needs are met and how decisions are made and communicated to other individuals internal and external to the institution.

This research aims to examine a health system’s four telehealth programs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
