Utilizing Health Information Technology to Scale and Spread Successful Practice Models Using Patient-reported Outcomes (R18)

Working with the American College of Rheumatology, this research created a clinical learning network to increase the use of rheumatoid arthritis patient-reported outcomes (PROs), developed a natural language processing algorithm to abstract PRO measures from the Rheumatology Informatics System for Effectiveness registry, and planned for a toolkit to disseminate best practices in the implementation of PROs.

In this study, researchers designed a mobile application to facilitate asthma self-management and shared decision making through patient-reported outcomes in order to improve outcomes for people with asthma.

This research expanded, implemented, and evaluated the use of an electronic health record-based patient-reported outcomes screening and needs assessment platform to improve screening and referral for oncology patients.

This study developed, implemented, and rigorously evaluated a clinically integrated remote symptom monitoring intervention for asthma patient-reported outcomes (PROs) in primary care, with findings revealing an improvement in patient quality of life and suggesting the intervention's potential to enhance the ability of clinicians and clinical staff to manage their patients.

This research demonstrated the feasibility of using advanced decision support techniques and data segmentation to protect patients’ privacy to screen for intimate partner violence in primary care settings.

This research will implement in pharmacies a patient-reported outcomes collection tool, PatientToc™, to collect data around medication adherence that can be used by pharmacists to improve adherence.
