Benchmarking

Description

Benchmarking is a process of evaluating metrics or best practices from other organizations (either related or unrelated to your own) and then applying them to your organization.

Brainwriting

Description

Brainwriting is a nonverbal form of brainstorming. Instead of brainstorming out loud, each member of the brainstorming team writes their ideas on paper.

Contingency Diagram

Description

The contingency diagram uses brainstorming to generate a list of problems that could arise from a process. Once problems are identified, then solutions to the problems are determined.

Focus Group

Description

A focus group is comprised of a collection of several individuals who all discuss a particular subject, voicing and discussing their opinions and ideas on that subject.

Needs Assessment

Description

A needs assessment allows an analyst to identify areas where a process does not match its needs. It allows an individual or group to prioritize needs on a cost and benefit basis by examining what would occur if the gap were closed versus ignored. In this way the assessment allows an analyst to identify which needs should be reduced or eliminated, making the needs assessment a useful decisionmaking tool.

Nominal Group Technique

Description

The nominal group technique (NGT) is a structured method of brainstorming within a group setting, designed to encourage participation from all members of the group.
