Mario Teran

Mario Terán, M.D., is a Physician and Clinical Informaticist for the Division of Digital Healthcare Research (DDHR) in the Center for Evidence and Practice Improvement at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

Prior to joining AHRQ, Dr. Terán, was in the private sector serving as a consulting physician informaticist focusing on electronic health record (EHR) implementation, end-user EHR adoption, and leveraging health technologies to improve patient outcomes and end-user satisfaction. He has overseen the implementation of EHRs across multiple health systems and has led efforts to improve physician EHR optimization and satisfaction. Prior to his consulting work, he began his surgical residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University focusing on translation cancer research. He received his medical degree from the University of Arizona and holds a Master’s Degree in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University.
