This study aimed to improve data exchange between public health and clinical care information systems, and across public health itself, to enhance data-informed decision making and surveillance of vaccine-preventable diseases, with findings indicating increased efficiency in both data access and staff effort.
The Role of Telehealth in COVID-19 Response
To assess telehealth’s role in the COVID-19 response, researchers analyzed data from the nation’s largest telehealth provider along with commercial and Medicare Advantage claims. They found that integrating near real-time telehealth data into public health reporting modestly improved 14-day forecasts of COVID-19 cases and mortality and revealed how differences in clinical management between telehealth and urgent care evolved as care delivery adapted to uncertainty and shifting guidelines.
