Women have unique information needs during their pregnancies, ranging from medical questions about pregnancy to logistical concerns about hospital policies. This project is designed to understand these needs, the contexts in which they occur, and the resources used.

Using Interactive Health Information Technology to Support Women’s Choices for Birth After Cesarean

Description: 

This project designed a shared decisionmaking support aid for vaginal birth after Caesarean section and concluded that the tool was feasible to implement for a diverse patient population.

Description: 

This project evaluated a bilingual touchscreen educational program about breastfeeding and found improvements in breastfeeding knowledge, self-efficacy, and intent to breastfeed.

Distance Management of High-Risk Obstetrical Patients

Description: 

Developed a technology plan to improve access to maternal-fetal medicine services throughout the State and guided the implementation of telemedicine capabilities to provide real-time remote diagnostic ultrasound and consultative services to women with high-risk pregnancies.

Data Flow & Clinical Outcomes in a Perinatal Continuum of Care System

Description: 

This project implemented and evaluated an ambulatory electronic health record integrated with an inpatient perinatal system and found that increased information availability enabled providers to identify problems and respond with more intensive care.

Improving Safety and Quality with Integrated Technology

Description: 

Demonstrates the value of an integrated outpatient and inpatient health information system by assessing adherence to evidence-based treatment guidelines for women who are group B streptococcus positive including inappropriate antibiotic use and screening in the outpatient setting, and cost-benefit analysis.
